Hot Melt Machines & PIB Machines

Hot melt sealing machines are specialised equipment for applying sealants in insulated glass unit (IGU) manufacturing. Atlantic Machinery offers a range of machines with precise temperature control and durable construction. PIB machines are specifically designed for applying Polyisobutylene (PIB) sealants in IGU production.

Hot Melt & PIB Machines Defined

Hot melt sealing machines, also known as hot melt extruders, are specialised equipment used in the manufacturing of insulated glass units (IGUs). They are designed to apply hot melt sealants onto spacer bars or directly onto glass surfaces to create a seal between the glass panes in the IGU.

Atlantic Machinery's range of hot melt extruders is tailored to cover all levels of insulated glass manufacturing, from small-scale remakes to large-scale production runs. These machines feature accurate temperature control achieved through electronic temperature control systems and Type K thermocouple probes, ensuring consistent sealant application.

The machines are electrically powered and accept standard sealant blocks. They are built to high specifications, incorporating over-spec motor, gearbox, and pumps to minimize premature component wear. AC motor drive controllers are used throughout the range for reliable performance.

The unique keypad design of these machines includes features such as a 7-day timer, pre-calibrated sealant settings, temperature standby mode, knob-free speed control, audible low and high-temperature warnings, security password protection, and more. This design enhances usability and ensures precise control over the sealing process.

PIB machines, on the other hand, are specifically designed for applying Polyisobutylene (PIB) sealants, which are commonly used in the manufacturing of IGUs for their excellent gas barrier properties and durability. These machines function similarly to hot melt sealing machines but are optimized for the application of PIB sealants.

Hot Melt Sealing Machines

A hot melt machine is specialised equipment used to apply hot melt adhesives or sealants. In IGU manufacturing, it applies hot melt sealants onto spacer bars or glass surfaces to create a seal between glass panes.

A PIB machine is specialised equipment used in insulated glass unit (IGU) manufacturing specifically designed for applying Polyisobutylene (PIB) sealants. These sealants are used to create a durable and effective seal between the glass panes in an IGU. PIB machines are optimised for precise application of PIB sealants, ensuring consistent and reliable sealing performance in the finished IGUs.
